Filler text that does not distract from the design

When you are laying out a page, a template or a print mockup, real content is not always ready, but you still need something in the text boxes to judge spacing, line length and how a paragraph breaks. Lorem ipsum, a scrambled passage of classical Latin used since the 1500s, does the job precisely because nobody reads it as real words, so attention stays on the layout instead of the words.

Latin or plain words

The classic style produces the familiar lorem ipsum text. If you would rather have something that looks like normal readable prose, without the Latin, switch to plain words: it strings together common English words into sentences and paragraphs, useful when a stakeholder finds Latin confusing or when you want to eyeball reading time more naturally.

Paragraphs, sentences or words

Choose the unit that matches what you are filling: a page of paragraphs for body text, a handful of sentences for a card or a summary, or an exact word count for a field with a character limit. Each paragraph has a varying number of sentences, and each sentence a varying length, so the text does not look mechanically uniform.

Repeatable text

What it does not do

It is filler text, not real content: do not ship it in a live product, since it reads as nonsense to visitors and to search engines. For real body copy you still need to write or source actual words. Everything is generated in your browser.
