How it works

Paste the numbers

One per line, in any format: with spaces, dashes, brackets or a 00 or + prefix.

Choose the country and format

The country is used for numbers written without a prefix.

Copy the result

Every number comes out the same way, with a note if something looks odd.

One format for every phone number

Phone numbers arrive in every shape: with spaces, dots, dashes or brackets, with or without the country prefix, with a leading zero that should not be there or with 00 instead of a plus sign. That is fine for people, but it breaks systems. A CRM will not match two records for the same person, an SMS platform rejects the number, and a spreadsheet drops a leading plus. Putting the numbers in one standard form solves all of it.

The formats you can choose

  • E.164: the international standard, a plus sign, the country code and the number with no spaces, such as +34612345678. It is what most SMS, messaging and calling services expect.
  • International in groups: the same, split for reading: +34 612 345 678.
  • National: how the number is written inside its own country, without the prefix.
  • Digits only: the country code and number without a plus sign, as used in WhatsApp links.

How numbers are understood

Numbers that begin with + or 00 are read as international and the country is taken from the prefix. Numbers without one are assumed to belong to the country you choose, and a leading national trunk zero, such as the 0 in French or British numbers, is dropped. Spaces, dots, dashes and brackets are ignored.

Grouping and length checks

For countries whose numbers follow a fixed pattern, such as Spain, the United States, France, Portugal and the United Kingdom, the tool groups the digits and warns if the length or the first digit is unusual. For other countries it standardizes the prefix and leaves the digits together, because a wrong grouping would be worse than none.

What it does not do

A number that looks plausible may still not exist, and a number in a valid format may not be assigned. The tool cannot tell whether a line is mobile or landline, who owns it or which carrier serves it. It works with rules built into the page, so it will not know newly assigned ranges. Your numbers are processed in your browser and are never uploaded. To pick numbers out of a text first, use the phone number extractor.

Frequently asked questions

How do I format a phone number in E.164?
Paste it and choose E.164. You get a plus sign, the country code and the digits with no spaces, for example +34612345678.
What country is used when the number has no prefix?
The one you select above the results. Numbers that already start with + or 00 use their own prefix.
Can I format a whole list?
Yes. Paste one number per line and every line is converted, with a copy button for the full list.
Does it check that the number exists?
No. It only checks that the length looks plausible for the country. It cannot confirm that a number is in service.
Why does it remove the first zero?
In many countries the 0 is only used when dialing inside the country. In international format it must be dropped.
Are my numbers uploaded anywhere?
No. They are processed in your browser and never leave your device.
