How to generate a 6-digit PIN

To generate a 6-digit PIN, open this page: the type is set to PIN with 6 digits and a code is already shown. Press the button for a new one, or raise the count to get a list you can copy. The digits come from your browser's cryptographically secure random generator. The PIN is not stored or transmitted, and there are 1,000,000 possible codes, from 000000 to 999999.

Why 6 digits

A 6-digit PIN has 100 times as many possibilities as a 4-digit one: 1,000,000 against 10,000. Many phones, apps and banks now ask for 6 digits by default, because guessing takes far longer, even for an attacker who is not limited by a lockout.

Where 6-digit codes are used

  • Phone and tablet lock screens.
  • Two-factor codes sent by apps, which are usually 6 digits.
  • Bank apps and SIM card unlock.
  • Shared lockers, smart locks and building entry systems.

Avoid patterns

Sequences (123456), repeats (111111) and dates are the first guesses. A random PIN avoids them by design. If the generator happens to produce something that looks like a pattern, it is still as random as any other; you can simply generate another.

Storing it safely

  • Memorise it rather than saving it in your notes.
  • If you must record it, use a password manager, not a sticky note.
  • Never send a PIN by email or chat.

Private by design

Everything is calculated in your browser as you type; nothing is sent to a server.

Frequently asked questions

How many 6-digit PINs are there?
1,000,000, from 000000 to 999999.
Is a 6-digit PIN safe enough?
For most uses, yes, especially with a limit on wrong attempts. For anything valuable, use a long password or a passkey instead.
Can I generate several at once?
Yes. Raise the count and copy the whole list.
Is this converter free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit, and it runs in your browser, so nothing you type is sent to a server.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It works in any modern mobile browser, and the result updates as you type.
