The first lines decide everything

LinkedIn shows only the first lines of a post, roughly 210 characters, before the see more link. Whoever does not tap it reads only that opening, so use it for a strong first sentence that makes the value clear. The counter shows how much you write beyond that point.

Post structure that reads well

  • One idea per post, stated in the first line.
  • Short paragraphs of one or two sentences, with blank lines between them.
  • A concrete detail, such as a number, a story or an example, to make it credible.
  • A closing question to invite comments.

Length and engagement

There is no ideal length: a sharp 600-character post can beat a 2,500-character one. Use the reading time shown by the counter as a guide, aiming for a post that can be read in about a minute unless the story needs more. Keep hashtags to three or so, at the end.

Private by design

Your text is processed in your browser and never sent to a server, so you can safely convert drafts, contracts, code or anything private.
