Merge PDF files

Drop your PDF files, put them in order and download a single document. Everything happens on your device, so contracts and personal papers stay private.

merge-pdf

100% private — your PDFs are merged on your device and are never uploaded to any server.

Works with PDFs up to about 200 MB each. Password-protected PDFs cannot be merged, and bookmarks and links between documents are not carried over.

    How it works

    Add your PDFs

Drop as many as you need. Each one shows a preview of its first page and its page count.

    Put them in order

Use the arrows to move a file up or down, or remove the ones you do not need.

    Merge and download

One click creates the combined PDF. Nothing is uploaded at any point.

Combining PDFs without sending them anywhere

Most PDF mergers ask you to upload your files to a server, which is a poor idea when the documents are contracts, invoices, medical reports or identity papers. This tool merges them inside your browser, so the files never leave your computer or phone and there is no copy left behind on someone else's system.

    How merging works

The pages of each file are copied, in the order you set, into a new document. Text stays as text, so it remains selectable and searchable, and images and vector graphics keep their quality: the pages are copied, not redrawn. The result is one PDF whose page count is the sum of the originals.

    Before you merge

    • Password-protected files cannot be merged. Remove the password in the program that created it, then add the file again.
    • Digitally signed files lose their signature validity when merged, because a signature protects the exact contents of the original file. If you need to keep signatures valid, read how to merge signed PDFs. If the PDFs still need signing, merge them first and sign the combined file afterwards.
    • Bookmarks and internal links are not carried over to the merged file.
    • Pages keep their own size, so a mix of A4 and letter pages is preserved exactly as it was.

If the merged file is too big

Combining files adds their sizes together. If the result is too large to email or upload, the PDF compressor can reduce it by shrinking the images inside, without touching the text.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I merge PDF files?
Drop your PDFs on this page, put them in the order you want with the arrows and click merge. You can then download a single PDF.
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. They are merged inside your browser on your own device, so nothing is sent over the internet.
Is there a limit on the number of files or pages?
There is no fixed limit. The practical limit is your device's memory, so very large files, around 200 MB each, are better handled on a computer.
Will the text stay selectable after merging?
Yes. The pages are copied rather than converted to images, so text remains selectable and searchable and the quality is unchanged.
    What happens to digital signatures?
A digital signature becomes invalid when the file is merged, because it protects the original file exactly as it was. The page shows a warning for signed files, and our guide on merging signed PDFs explains the options.
    Why can't I merge a password-protected PDF?
Because its contents are encrypted and cannot be read without the password. Remove the password first, then add the file again.
Can I change the order of the pages inside one file?
This tool merges whole files in the order you choose. It does not reorder pages within a file.
