What it does
A lowercase converter turns every capital letter into its small form and leaves digits, punctuation and spaces untouched. It is the quick fix for text pasted from an ALL-CAPS source, a shouty email or a spreadsheet column that was typed with caps lock on.

Where it is used
- Cleaning imported data such as names and cities exported in capitals.
- Email addresses and usernames, which are treated case-insensitively but look tidier in lowercase.
- URLs and file names, where lowercase avoids problems on case-sensitive servers.

Tips and things to check
- Names and the start of sentences will lose their capitals; run the sentence case or title case converter afterwards if you need them back.
- For URLs and slugs, combine lowercase with kebab-case to also replace spaces with hyphens.
- Acronyms such as NASA become nasa, so check them after converting.

Can I convert ALL CAPS text to normal sentences?
Yes, in two steps: convert to lowercase, then use the sentence case converter to capitalise the start of every sentence. Or go straight to sentence case, which does both.
Does it lowercase accented letters?
Yes. Ü becomes ü, Ç becomes ç, and letters of other alphabets are handled by your browser's language rules.
Is the conversion reversible?
Not exactly. Once capitals are lost, the tool cannot know which letters were originally uppercase, so keep a copy of the original text if you need it.
Is this converter free?
