How to convert HEIC to PNG

To convert HEIC to PNG, drop your HEIC files on the box above, choose the output quality and download the result. The conversion happens inside your browser, so the files never leave your device, and it is free with no sign-up.

What HEIC and PNG are

HEIC (or HEIF) is the format iPhones use by default. It keeps roughly the same quality as JPG in about half the space, but Windows, many websites and most upload forms cannot open it without a converter.

PNG is a lossless format: every pixel is stored exactly, so text, logos and screenshots stay razor sharp, and it supports full transparency. The price is size, since a photo saved as PNG is often three to ten times bigger than the same photo as JPG.

Why convert HEIC to PNG

iPhone photos arrive as HEIC, which Windows, many websites and most forms cannot open. Converting HEIC to PNG gives you an exact, lossless copy that every program reads, which suits pictures you plan to edit or archive without further loss. If you only need to share or upload, JPG is lighter.

What changes when you convert HEIC to PNG

  • The file gets much bigger. HEIC is about half the size of JPG, and PNG is several times larger than JPG for photos.
  • Nothing more is lost. PNG stores the decoded picture exactly; there is no additional compression loss.
  • Live Photo motion and depth data are not kept. The result is one still image.

Tips for the best result

  • For sharing, emailing or uploading, choose JPG instead: it is far lighter and looks the same.
  • Use PNG when you will edit the picture repeatedly and want no generation loss.
  • Select several photos at once: each one is converted separately and you can download them together as a ZIP.

Private by design

The conversion runs entirely in your browser using your device's own image engine. Your HEIC files are never uploaded to a server, so personal photos, documents and unpublished designs stay with you, and there is no queue and no size limit imposed by an upload.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert iPhone HEIC photos to PNG here?
Yes. Drop your HEIC or HEIF photos and choose PNG as the output. The conversion runs inside your browser, so the photos never leave your device.
Should I convert HEIC to PNG or JPG?
Choose JPG for sharing and uploading, because it is much smaller and universally accepted. Choose PNG only if you need a lossless working copy or transparency, and accept a much larger file.
Is this HEIC to PNG converter free?
Yes, completely. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of files. The tool runs in your browser, so it costs us nothing to let you use it as much as you like.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion is done on your own device with your browser's image engine. Nothing is sent to a server, which also makes it fast and safe for private pictures.
Can I convert several HEIC files at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like; each one is converted separately and you can download them individually or all together in a ZIP file.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It runs in any modern mobile browser on iPhone and Android. Very large images can be slow on older phones because your device does the work.
